"people spoke against God...'our soul loathes this worthless bread'...so Moses made a bronze serpent,...when...bitten, when he looked at the serpent, he lived." Numbers 21:5, 9
Later, people began looking to this pole as an idol, so Hezekiah had it cut down and broken into pieces. The serpent pole was a shadow of Jesus, but man so easily falls into worshipping the thing rather than God Himself.
